Shameful Discrimination at U-Haul Moving & Storage Dutchtown – Do Better!

I’m extremely disappointed with the way my employee was treated at U-Haul Moving & Storage Dutchtown (4230 Gravois Ave, St. Louis, MO 63116). He had a confirmed reservation to rent a van for three days and provided everything required—a valid driver’s license, passport, visa, credit card, and an approval letter from me as his manager.

Instead of honoring the reservation, manager Charity and employee Wes took a picture of his driver’s license, texted their boss, and then just said no. They refused to even pull up his reservation or check the system. When I called to ask why, Wes had no answer. When I asked if this was because of my employee’s nationality or race, he denied it—but still refused to provide a real reason.

The worst part? We booked another van two minutes later at the downtown location with zero issues. No extra questions, no roadblocks—just a normal rental process.

This was clear racial discrimination, and it’s completely unacceptable. U-Haul, do better.

They were easy to deal with and had what I needed, last minute. Phone check in and drop off are nice. Would use again.
