It took me a long time to check out, they check out another truck with my information so when I went to return the truck it appeared as returned.
In the process I forget my headphones in the truck, I called 30 minutes after I left the store, they told me they will keep it in a safe place so I could pick it up next day. When I show up next day they told me that the headphones wasn't there. I am pretty sure It was there because I saw it when I stepped down from the truck.
Overall I lost more time than expected and also my belongings.
I had an absolutely terrible experience with the U-Haul location in Wilton Manors and would never rent from them again.
On Sunday, December 29th, I rented a small truck. The booking process was smooth, but the nightmare began when I returned it about two hours later, around 3:00-3:30 PM. I pulled into the check-in area, where a heavy-set employee (didn’t get his name) checked the mileage and confirmed the truck was clean. He said everything was fine, and I requested my receipt to be emailed.
Fast forward to December 4th, I received a call from U-Haul’s corporate office asking when I planned to return the truck—a truck I had already returned days prior! I explained that it was returned on time and even described the employee I handed the keys to. After supposedly “looking into it,” they insisted it was never returned.
I called the store myself and spoke to Mike, the so-called manager, who claimed the truck was missing. I suggested tracking it via GPS, to which he replied that he couldn’t unless he filed a police report. Then, in the most outrageous turn of events, he had the audacity to say that if he called the police, he’d “hate to have guns drawn on me.” Excuse me?! That’s beyond unacceptable. I told him to go ahead and call the police because I returned the truck as required and refused to be falsely accused.
Less than an hour later, Mike called back, saying the truck had been on their property the entire time but wasn’t checked in properly. Instead of a real apology, he offered a tiny discount on mileage—as if that somehow made up for falsely accusing me of stealing their truck!
If you rent from this location, GET A RECEIPT, RECORD YOUR INTERACTIONS, and triple-check everything. Their incompetence is shocking, and their customer service is even worse. I will never rent from this location again.
