Truck rental was as expected and everything went great

We went Friday to get a cargo van to move a few things from our apartment to our storage building. The process of getting the U-Haul was easy, they asked us to give an estimate of the mileage we would be driving and anything over what we quoted them would be 1.00 per mile extra. I had already mapped out our mileage ahead of time I knew the stops we needed to make and dropping it off again would be 26 miles ( I even rounded up to give us a couple extra miles). Before we pulled out I set the trip calculator on my car and followed behind my husband who was driving the cargo van. We went from the U-Haul place straight to our apartment (5 mile trip), from our apartment to our storage building (5 mile trip), from the storage to my mom’s house to drop a bed and pick one up (2 miles) from my mom’s back to our apartment to drop the bed (5 miles), and then back to the U-Haul place straight to drop the van (5 miles) my trip on my car said 22 miles is how far we drove. We should have been refunded $3.16. INSTEAD we were charged an extra $16.00 because their mileage count said we went 44 miles. (It’s funny it is exactly DOUBLE the trip we actually went). My husband said to let it go so we could leave. I went back and looked on our life 360 and sure enough the trip amount STILL totaled to 22 miles. We even threw in extra gas because the lady casually joked saying if it’s not filled back to where it was when you got it we will screw you. I will not use this location ever again and I hope this helps anyone else out who doesn’t have that extra money to just hand over. Pictures of our trip included

Do not use this location. We needed an extra day added to our truck rental in order to finish unpacking items. When I called, I was told very clearly that it would be $40 extra and we could return it by the next day at closing (5:00 on Sunday). When I returned the truck at 4:00, I was told that they were adding a late fee and an extra day because it was after 1:00. The extra charge was now $125.40. When asked why they were not honoring what was quoted to me the manager said the person I talked to wasn’t working and didn’t leave a note. They refused to look into the matter any further or ask the employee when he returned to work even though there was documentation of the call and the employee was listed.

Whether this was an example of gross incompetence and miscommunication or maliciousness in order to gain profit, I don’t know. I do know that I will not be using them again and I highly encourage you to avoid them as well.
