The vehicles were clean and road worthy. The staff were very friendly and courteous. I would definitely use them again!!
My company has a locker here to store our stuff- I’m constantly going in and out several times a month to grab our things.
I am disabled with mobility issues and have a handicap placard. Multiple times, I have arrived to the facility only to find that they’ve stuck equipment- trailers, trucks, etc. In both the ONLY handicap accessible spot, as well as the hatchcrossed “passenger unloading zone” that you are absolutely not supposed to park in. I have to call the office every single time to get them to move their equipment, or I quite literally cannot access my storage unit because I cannot exit my vehicle. It takes them at least 20 minutes to come over and move the equipment.
Today, I arrived and there was a trailer half parked into the handicap spot and half parked on the unloading zone. Did the usual- called the office, this time no one answered so the phone went to UHaul’s general customer service. I told the CS rep the situation and he patched me in to the local office. They said they’d send someone to move the trailer out of the spot.
When the man arrived to move it, he told me they “didn’t expect to have this many trailers” and that they had nowhere to put it. I explained to him that that’s not my problem- I need to access my storage and can’t do it if the spot is blocked. He then told me he had to call his coworker to come help him.
Well, the other coworker arrived and came up to my window and asked me why I couldn’t just park next to the trailer, to which I explained to him that I am disabled and need the handicap spot in its entirety to be able to exit my vehicle- including the unloading zone which is part of the spot and needed for folks with wheelchairs or other ambulatory assistance devices. He then proceeded to tell me I’m fine, I have enough room to exit my vehicle… to which I interrupted him, said that it is illegal for them to block handicap parking, and he got aggressive and told me that “it’s private property, they can use it for whatever purposes they need”.
First off, I do not believe that it is at ALL okay for your employees to be alienating their customers like this- disabled people are constantly denied their public access rights and nobody seems to care about it. Second, your customers need to be educated on the law because it is still 100% illegal for any business, private or public, to block ADA/Handicap parking access.
Something needs to be done about this- it is not the problem of your disabled customers that you have too much equipment and don’t know where to store it all.
The staff at Middletown went above and beyond to insure I was satisfied
The customer service scheduling persons were very patient and kind. I would definitely use this company again. I already recommend them to my friends!
I recently used U-Haul for storage and am very pleased with the experience. The facility was clean, secure, easy to access, and the pricing was reasonable. I’d also like to commend Amanda, who was professional, attentive, and clearly takes pride in her work. She made the whole process smooth and pleasant. Thank you for a great experience!
