The staff was very nice.
I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding the treatment of my member at your facility. My member, who has intellectual disabilities, heart failure, and kidney failure, has faced consistently disrespectful and discriminatory behavior from the staff including the Manager Mary.
Lack of Respect and Discrimination: The staff have shown a troubling lack of respect towards my member, often mocking her and taking advantage of her intellectual disabilities. This behavior is not only unprofessional but also deeply unethical.
Coercion and Exploitation: There have been multiple instances where my member was coerced into signing paperwork she did not understand. Despite her inability to read or comprehend the documents, the staff insisted she sign them immediately, under threat of eviction. This exploitation is unacceptable and raises serious ethical concerns.
Inadequate Facilities and Treatment: My member has been denied access to basic facilities such as restrooms, which is particularly concerning given her medical conditions. This denial of access is both inhumane and discriminatory.
Threats and Intimidation: The staff have repeatedly threatened to call the police on my member, often based on prejudiced judgments rather than any genuine concern for security. This behavior appears to be a tactic to intimidate and harass her, rather than addressing any legitimate issues.
Need for Advocacy: Given the hostile environment, my member now requires me to be on the phone with her whenever she visits the facility to ensure her treatment is monitored. This is a clear indication of the fear and distress she experiences due to the staff’s behavior.
It is imperative that immediate action be taken to address these issues. The current practices not only reflect poorly on the management but also infringe upon the rights and dignity of individuals with disabilities. I urge you to conduct a thorough investigation into these matters and take corrective measures to ensure fair and respectful treatment for all individuals, particularly those with special needs.
