U-Haul Moving & Storage of Santa Maria

I live less than a mile from this place and rent trucks/U-Hauls from them occasionally when my little '93 pickup cannot haul the load. I love this place and I've always had positive interactions with the staff there and they are very professional. Just be cautious, this place can get pretty busy and I imagine that's where some of the customer frustrations come into play with reviews. But it's not the staffs fault and I've witnessed people attempting to rent a U-Haul without a credit card or hefty down payment and then getting rude with the worker. I highly recommend this place!

Although I was disgruntled with the Goleta store not having the equipment I reserved and said I had to drive to Santa Maria, the team there made the drive worthwhile. They were friendly and helpful and answered all our questions.

I've read the T&C's and understand I am responsible for the safe keeping of my own items. Having said that let me say this, I was locked out of my storage at 10p prior to being able to secure 4 items inside my storage unit. Called after hours manager and received no reply. I returned into the U-Haul storage location in Santa Maria to secure my things two of which had been stolen. I reported the theft and staff knew my items were left outside and did secure my key card also left the previous evening. I was told they would review camera footage to find what happened to my items and 3 weeks later I still have heard nothing. There was a window of only a few hours that this theft could have occurred and still no feedback has been had. I will spread the word about this location depending with u-haul corporate and social media.

This place is horrible. I got my moving truck. It was dirty filthy inside and when I returned mine after a $900 bill, they hit me for a $25 cleaning fee because they said my truck was dirty it was nowhere near as dirty as it was when I got it and then the top it off they hit me with a fuel charge, even though there was more gas in it then when I got it, it was under a quarter of a tank of gas when I got it and I brought it back with over a half a tank and they still hit me with a fuel charge. These people here are shyster. I wouldn’t recommend going there at all. They may have a lot of rental trucks and cars and vans, but I wouldn’t go there ever again. It was a horrible experience in a time in my life that I needed help not to make things worse or cost me more money than I already didn’t have
