U-Haul Moving & Storage of Scotland and Central

I rented a defective truck from U-Haul location 225 Scotland Road, Orange NJ 07050. This was October 6th 2024. The check engine light was on. I notified a U-Haul representative that the check engine light was on. His response was “don’t worry about it, he had just filled it up with oil and it was okay to drive. I thought it was one of those minor code infractions, that did not prevent a vehicle from driving. The truck broke down and U-Haul billed me approximately $550.00 for not returning the vehicle along with other charges. Which all stemmed from the truck breaking down! I went the following day to sneak to the manager. She did not want to and only came out after I insisted she speak to me or I would be talking to her manager. I showed her photos and videos of the check engine light being on before I drove off the UHaul lot. She said she would investigate and communicate with me. Why did she/U Haul not investigate, before billing me over $500.00. I should not be charged for U Haul’s faulty equipment. I would not recommend this location!

I had a horrible experience renting at UHaul. We reserved the truck a few days prior to our move and the day-of it took over a hour to get the truck out of the lot. No one in the establishment could explain/help me to do the registration process via the app (that was terrible to use). It was overall a waste of time and money.
