I rent U-Haul from time to time, and my experiences haven't always been great. However, this location has been the best by far. The staff was friendly and polite, the equipment was in great shape, and the paperwork was completed quickly. I highly recommend this location for your U-Haul rental

So, the good part was I eventually got the vehicle I was promised. It was clean, the parking lot was essentially safe.

The not so good part was - you know how they tout a guarantee on availability? Yeah, that's evidently crap. (see update from 1/19/2025 below)

When I arrived, my truck wasn't ready.

When I asked about it - the lady behind the counter was like, 'well, I have it, it's just not here right now. A customer hasn't returned it yet.' Like, she had to call the guy and tell him to bring it back... was just gonna be a 40 minute wait.

Silly me, that doesn't sound like it's here.

When I asked about the guarantee, she said, 'but you just ordered it a few hours ago.' - I checked the guarantee (and attached images from the day this all went down), and there's NOTHING that says the vehicle has to be ordered within a certain time...

So, technically, they owe me $50 for failing to live up to their guarantee, right? Not that I expect anything to come of it. But, just so you know.

update from 1/19/2025: So I had to go to uhaul.com and chat with customer support - needed to have my contract #, name, phone # - and the rep asked me what happened about 3x but then they issued the refund. So, good on them for that, it was essentially pain free. Just document what happened, have a timeline for when you reserved, when you went to pick up your equipment, and anything the people behind the counter said about the situation. If they tell you it's available, you show up and it's not ready - that sounds like it falls under the guarantee.
