Ok I rent a storage area there for a while now and rarely ever go in. I went in tonight and used a hand cart to move some stuff out the front . If it’s after hours you have to go throug like a multi step process on multiple kiosks entering the access code till the giant automatic doors open and you can go through . On my way out I left the handcart in between the doors so I wouldn’t be locked out and tossed my stuff on the curb to load in my car . It took maybe like 2 min tops . I just had a couple of small things . But the doors started closing with the big dolly in between so I ran over to move it. The doors LIGHTLY BUMPED the cart ONCE, then reopened again immediately as they should if their sensors detect something is in the way , and I put the cart back inside and went out , doors closed behind me . Well two employees - male - stomped over from the office . One said you can’t block the doors! I said oh sorry , then he said “Whars your storage #? “ I told him and Said “why” he said “if the doors are broken YOU ARE PAYING FOR IT” i told him that is a bit of an exaggeration , they lightly bumped the cart for half a second then closed . He said they were not closing . I got in the car and let it idle for a few minutes as they were testing the doors . They seemed to close just fine I drove away . First of all - WHAT?!?! If the doors BROKE ENTIRELY from bumping something ONCE lightly , that is not my fault . Why would you threaten someone to pay what would probably be 1000s in damages for a slight MISHAP that probably happens 10x a day with other folks moving giant trucks of furniture in and out ? That’s no way to treat a customer or a fellow HUMAN in fact. It literally bumped the cart once , I went and moved the cart out of the way and the doors closed . The employee was acting like it was an intentional act of vandalism or something . There’s the video surveillance footage go ahead and review it . It’s not LOGICAL that if that was broken it was MY fault / why you would even think that ? I’ll send a direct email if I can find the right contact info for this complaint but I’ll be moving out of there asap . Sucks to be treated like a criminal - because really? the automatic door - of a high use , high traffic STORAGE will COMPLETELY BREAK if something is in the way for 2 seconds ? I’m pretty sure they were built to withstand that and if not , that’s an incredible safety hazard . That’s a DOOR problem not a me problem .
Because I was giggling and having a good time, I was denied service and humiliated in front of other customers as the manager accused me of being on drugs. Bad business, Humiliation, discrimination and disrespect! I'm appalled . I wish there was more I could do. My feelings are hurt even.
It was easy to get things taken care of since we reserved ahead of time, and the girl that helped us in the morning made sure everything was understood clearly for us.
Definitely recommend, and will use uhaul again if needed.
Great location, great company, great buisness model.One horrible employee. Watch out! She is a Pit Bull and customers are meat! You will know who she is in a second if you interact with her. One bad apple……..such a shame for the uhaul image!
