U-Haul Moving & Storage of Winston Salem

Beware of this location!!!! I rented a U-haul trailer from 118 Marshall Street N that could have killed someone. After the U-Haul representative professionally attached the U-Haul trailer to my vehicles ball hitch and trailer wiring harness, he took several photos to show he attached the trailer to U-Haul standards and safe towing procedures. Within a mile and a half of the U-Haul rental center, the trailer became unattached from my vehicles ball hitch, the trailer tongue scaping on pavement behind. As we were traveling on a busy city street, I slowed to a stop only to have the U-Haul trailer crash into the rear of my vehicle, causing damages to my vehicle and the vehicles trailer wiring harness. Repeated attempts to contact the U-Haul location phone unanswered. Calls to U-Haul accident support were almost as useless as talking to a rock. U-Haul forced my wife and I to wait on the side of the road for over 2 Two hours before someone was sent from a tow company to pick up the trailer. U-Haul representatives do not care or have any interest in taking care of you when something goes wrong, especially when the trailer wasn't attached properly at the U-Haul rental center by the U-Haul employee. What if I had taken I-40 home and the U-Haul trailer disconnected at 55mph and either flipped my vehicle or crashed into other vehicles possibly causing my death, death of my wife or innocent drivers on the road that evening? U-Haul representatives haven't apologized other than to refund the money paid for the rental trailer ?. Think twice about renting from this location because training and safety standards are not followed. As a person who rents vehicles often and has choices on the company's to rent from this near catastrophic event and complete lack of response afterwards, it has sealed my decision for future rentals.

I have storage units at this location and the staff has always been very helpful. The manager especially has made both trips and storage rentals a positive experience.

upgrading our insurance to the most expensive one and didn’t say anything after we had already reserved a insurance price while booking it so be careful!
