Racist staff made fun of my name and laughed about it in my face for over 10 minutes. Humiliated, needing a Uhaul and stuck staying there uncomfortable and miserable. Owner only mentioned anything to his staff as they sat making fun of me and laughing because they were scrolling the appointment list and said it wasn’t a real name, and they had no idea i was in the room. Even after I spoke up they giggled to themselves continuing to laugh and poke fun of me. the owner made no attempts to stop it. When we got outside the owner said “sorry we like to laugh and joke around” cannot believe anyone would run a business like this. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone use a different Uhaul place.

UPDATE!! I should had known better and went with my gut feeling!!! I rented several cargo vans and trucks over the span of about 2 months, spent a couple grand. JOEY was AMAZING!! ALWAYS helpful even after hours when he was still working! He was there every day opening/passed closing making sure the vehicles were parked/clean, then, he was gone! He went to another store, guessing because of all the incompetence. One of the trucks I rented, new with 300 miles on it, had a radio/hands free that did not work, which is a bummer as I drive for a living and rely on it for GPS, and I was having trouble stopping I had called and told James? Several times and he said “it’s a brand new truck, assuring me it was safe. Yeah, SAFE! I drove home in a rain storm with NO BRAKES the pedal to the floor! That morning I called the 800 number and told them. I asked a different truck be available because I had to work a double and she said no and I have to be with the truck when they arrived. After HOURS tow finally showed up/inspected when he got to the back of the truck he couldn’t believe the giant HOLE and that the entire brake line was “blown out, man this thing exploded!!”I spoke to the person at Uhaul she said there was no vehicle available until the next day. Well I had it rented to work a DOUBLE, and they couldn’t even have me a vehicle by the second shift. THEN, she called back several hours later and said they would have a cargo van in two hours, and that they would cover my Uber back to their shop, and have it ready. I asked if she was sure because I would let my boss and clients know I’d be there in about 3 hours, she said yes she would call me right away, in two hours or less. 3.5 hours go by still no call, I call and text the woman I was working with and they said her shift had ended and they didnt know what I was talking about. I called again got someone else, she said you have to wait the entire two hours I let her know it was almost 4! I called the site myself they said it had been there several hours. I missed my SECOND shift because they’re lazy! I paid my own Uber never was reimbursed for that or the gallon jug of brake fluid, she said I wouldn’t be charged for the entire day before or that day, and I just got a letter from Uhaul stating I owe almost $300 and they’ll send to collections! I lost my job because of them, I never received money back AND owe a bill? That’s okay, my NEW job has legal, which I am paying for JUST for Uhaul!
This would had never happened if Joey was still there. Oh! They also stole my Dad’s (RIP) cane! I am disabled and need it and for 3 days Joe said the cane was in the office and described it perfectly (it was very unusual) yeah, an employee took it from the office and took it home! When I was in their asking about it, an employee who I won’t name here, when I came in to ask about it and said, it was absolutely beautiful and weighted perfectly, under his breath said, “yeah it is” I will be coming for that too, so I hope for your sake it returns and I get a call about it.

*I was haven’t been here in about 15 years, because some one let my EX husband and his wife rent under my name - Uhaul insists I pay it, which I will not, ever. I have called, sent letters, contacted online, yet this is still a thorn in my side when I try to rent from Uhaul. I swore I’d never use their service. I was wrong..
To start, we reserved a Cargo Van. We used the app, which made it really simple. I called to confirm this morning. George was so nice, and very helpful, listened to my complaint about the issue which has nothing to do with him, stayed very nice and professional, said he would see us at 6:15 for pick up. I called back and spoke to I think Geory? He was very nice, never even sounded annoyed, said they would be there. I arrive just before closing, I tried to sign in the app and it kept saying I hadn’t yet arrived, (Geory?) was taking care of a customer, didnt try to rush them, never sounded even annoyed.
The Van was very nice, modern, had Apple Play, cold AC, Thank you Uhaul in Ypsilanti!
