My husband and I have used U-Pack twice now for cross country moves, and they are wonderful every step of the way! They always picked up quickly when I called the number on the website, I don't think I was on hold more than once throughout two moves. Great customer service!! We packed the truck ourselves both times, and nothing was seriously damaged, just a few typical moving scrapes here and there. This past move was to New York City, and they were great even though the streets were narrow and crowded. We will definitely be using them again.
Having had such a wonderful experience with a past move, I decided to give ABF repeat business with a current move. The initial leg of the move was awesome (love you guys in Tampa and AR), but the final leg (Avenel, NJ) has been less than poor...perhaps even pitiful. One of three Cubes was pierced with a pitch-fork and arrived damaged (contents ok), and looks 'ghetto'. The delivery from Avenel was delayed, despite a 7am call on 9/13, until 9/16 - then arrived earlier than the 'window' that was quoted. I just happened to be home. As for the pickup of the empty cubes - I called at noon on 9/19, hoping for a 9/20 pickup, and was told they were picking the cubes up that day (9/19) between 1 and 5pm. I expedited the unloading of the remainder of my items (at great expense) to facilitate this request, and was able to complete the off load by 1pm as requested by ABF. Well, I sat around waiting for the driver...waiting...waiting...then called dispatch at 5:30pm, and was told the driver is 'on his way'. Waited until 8pm, then 'closed the shipping dock' for the day. In the meantime, there has been no contact from ABF explaining the delay, and/or setting another appointment for cube removal. Bottom line, is that I would NEVER use ABF again! I would also NOT advise people moving to NJ to use this company! The teamsters have a black eye on this one! Shame on you!

I had used U-Pack before and had a good experience, so I used them again and unfortunately the experience wasn't quite as good this time around.
I had paid an extra $75 to have the truck delivered in a 2 hour time window in the morning so that I could schedule movers to unload the truck that same afternoon. They delivered the truck in the specified time frame and then dropped off a ramp separately (because we used the entire space for the truck). We asked the guy who dropped off the ramp if he could set it up, but he weaseled out of it saying that he couldn't do that until the bulkhead doors were taken down (which is not true) and left it to us. Knowing that the movers were coming shortly we said fine and figured they would be able to set it up. Turns out, they had delivered a faulty ramp that was never ever going to work (the ramp had been 'repaired' that morning, but the repair used bolts that were too big and made it so that you couldn't actually open the ramp). Our movers were great and proceeded to unload the truck despite not having a ramp. I immediately called back to Upack to try and fix the ramp situation as quickly as possible as the movers were there and unloading. Initially they were pretty unhelpful, but I continued to call every 30 minutes over the next 3 hours and finally they were able to find a way to get a ramp delivered to me. Problem is, the ramp got there 1 hour after the movers had finished unloading everything but the Piano (which really couldn't be moved without a ramp). I ended up paying the movers an extra $100 to come back the next day to unload the piano with the ramp.
