Our move was 1,000 miles. We used 19 feet and it cost $2,300 plus $500 for one month's storage. I explored lots of dates and options over several phone calls to get that price. The one-way self-drive options were not cheaper after accounting for fuel costs (trucks only get 10-12 mpg). Plus I would have had to arrange storage, unpack into storage and out of it again. So, although $500 seems a lot on first glance for 1 month storage, it was easily worth it for us because it saved so much time: our belongings stayed packed as we packed them in the same trailer for one month. This was by far the best option for our circumstances. Even if we didn't need the storage, U-Pack was still the best option.
Very happy with all staff we spoke to. Very smooth drop off and pick up at both ends. Have no hesitation in highly recommending.
Overall, my experience with Upack was great. The drivers I interacted with on pickup/dropoff were very friendly & helpful. The value was also great; the truck, even though basically full, cost about the same as renting my own truck would cost, without the need for paying gas, insurance, & the best part - without the need for me driving it myself while towing a car behind it. The only reason why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the administration doesn't seem to be up to speed with everything. I paid extra for guaranteed delivery, but when I called shortly before initial delivery, the guy told me 'oh wow, good thing you called, we weren't scheduled to drop it off until next week!' No biggie I thought, things happen. Glad I happened to call. Well it also happened for pickup. Called & the lady said 'I'm really glad you called, we're not actually scheduled to pick this up for another 2 weeks. Sometimes this happens...' So, overall, I'd highly recommend the service, but I'd also highly recommend calling at least 1-2 times before your scheduled delivery, pickup, & delivery again to ensure they have the updated timeframe you're expecting.
We scheduled a 26' semi container to move our belongings 1300 miles. Our total cost was $2200 for 13' of space and that was after receiving a $100 discount because the container provided by ABF was dirty. The entire floor needed to be wet mopped to remove slippery liquid and absorbent gravel that had been applied to remedy the spill. Our major complaint was that the ABF dispatcher out of Missoula Montana threatened to cancel the move when we complained about the dirty trailer. He said they 'weren't making any money on the deal'. Needless to say it added to our anxiety about the process. We didn't expect to have to clean the trailer for ABF. I might add that in order in insure that your articles are not damaged to make sure you tie EVERYTHING down. We added our own eye bolts to the front of the trailer since there was no way to tie off except to the sides. The lock on the back partition only takes a narrow shank bolt and one of ours was bent and rendered garbage when we went to unlock it. It appeared as though something had crashed into it from the inside.
Very prompt timely service. I had to add a trailer at 1600 on a Friday. They delivered the trailer within an hour. On the receiving end they were a day early and made the trailers available as soon as I was ready. Great experience with cross country haul.
Prompt, courteous, and miracle of miracles: my shipment arrived at the destination on the day promised. This was much better than my last experience with a cross country move using Allied.
