U-Pack made our 700 mile move so much easier! If you have a long distance move there is no better way to go. Great customer service, you always get an answer from a real person every time you call. Text and email communication was handy as well. Was actually cheaper than a uhaul would have been. Drop off and pick up was on time, easy to schedule.
**If you have fragile, delicate things pack them up well!! and wrap furniture! things slide and rub in transit!**
Moved from Wisconsin to Idaho. Price booked far ahead of time was just shy of $2200 that was with a promise date and 1 cube. Everything was on time even early for delivery and pick up. It looks small. If you’ve played Tetris you’ll need every ounce of experience because you are able to fit quite a bit. We did not bring our bedroom set but.. we were able to fit: 1 8 ft split sectional, two TVs in their boxes (77 and 50), tv stand for the 77, 30 various sized boxes and totes, a coffee table, end table, two lamps, various random items such as gun cases, dog supplies and beds, large rug, and more. HOWEVER if you have a bedroom set GET TWO. You’ll need two cubes for a fully furnished 1 bedroom apartment. Everything went smoothly nothing was damaged but we packed smart and snug. Would use them again!
If your moving to another state this is a great company to use. Highly recommend.
Good overall experience and wish I could give them another half-star. Certainly a great option if you want to save a few bucks over a van lines service such as Wheaton, Allied, Mayflower etc. to move your stuff cross-country like me. I was especially impressed with the customer service people at Upack and the local destination people (ABF) who deliver and pick up the trailers. Really good website and technology as well to make things easy for scheduling and status while on the road.
My only real complaint is that the trailers are beat up and filthy inside. These trailers are used to haul just about anything, including machinery, and collect a lot of dirt, grease and who know what. As a result, I dragged in a lot of nasty black grease onto my carpets and will have to get them cleaned. So be careful where you put your unloaded boxes in your new home. They may have been clean going into the trailer but they could have rubbed against something while in transit. Also, I'd use a full-service van lines if you are moving expensive, delicate house hold items. Hauling on a freight trailer (ABF) can be rough on your things (no air suspension).
We moved cross country from Boise to South Carolina. I ordered two Relocubes online, thinking we may just use one from the estimator on the U-Pack website. Good thing I ordered two because not everything even fit into two of them, so I think the estimator is off. Order more Relocubes than you think, since they only charge you for the ones you end up using, which is nice.
The price was fair. Not cheap, but less than if we would have gotten movers to do it all. The Relocubes themselves were really sturdy. We had gone with U-Haul before and their wood containers were bad quality - these were much better. You will need two locks for each Relocube (something we didn't know about ahead of time so we had to run out and get more locks). And they don't come with blankets, so heads up about that too.
As far as the pickup in Boise, we were given a 4-hour window and then they called me when they were there to drop off the Relocubes. I wish they would have given a little more notice just to be more ready (even a 15-minute heads up would have been nice), but it ended up working out okay.
It took about two weeks to get our Relocubes, just to give you an idea of the timeline.
The Greenville end was worse with timing (they weren't on time with dropping the full Relocubes off, but at least I got a call saying that, but then they told me they would drop them off that day and ended up dropping them off the next morning instead). It was a little frustrating but the guy dropping them off was nice and you just had to give them a call to pick up the empty containers when you're done.
I recommend U-Pack over U-Haul UBox, at least. I can't speak for any other company but I know that PODS had terrible reviews and U-Pack had the best reviews I've seen. The back end wasn't so great but I'd probably still use U-Pack again if I needed to.
