I was quoted to have a studio move of ~$1200, it contained an L shaped desk, a king bed/frame with adjustable platform, a computer/monitor, a dresser, night stand, 15 boxes, 72' TV, and a large ice chest. I was unsure of my moving date I just needed quotes as i needed to wait for my job to transfer me, so the person I was contacting picked a date since he needed one to finalize the quote and assured me I will have to call to tell them and I had 18 months to pick an official move date just call a week before the day I want, I can pick a pickup time and since it was a short move (350 miles) it would be same day unless I picked an overnight time.
I get a call late December by Ryan who tells me he is confirming inventory for the move that the last guy choose and since it has been picked we are too close to the date to change without paying a penalty, I inform him I do not have the money to spend on top of the deposit and he says 'you really don't? Are all of your credit cards maxed?' Which is not what I said at all, I do not have credit card debt, but because this company messed up, it's me who has to pay and I still did because I need it done but I was still waiting on a job. We set a date for months in the future so this doesn't happen again. I call once I find out my start date at work being mid-February and we make a new contract stating that they will call me about a week before the pickup date so I can choose a time for pickup and it will be same day as long as I didn't pick the overnight move.
I hear no call a week before, so I called them, they tell me that they should be calling tomorrow, I don't get a call again, so I called, and there's no answer. For each call, I am also calling Ryan and leaving a voice-mail to call me back. All I want to do it confirm that we are, in fact, doing the move on the day we talked about. My move is supposed to be either on a Tuesday or Wednesday, I finally get a call back from Ryan after daily calls and voicemails, he claims he didn't get a single one and he's not here to confirm the time just to confirm the inventory for the move and they will call me today for my move. This was at 12:35, I called Ryan back at 14:37 to remind him I hadn't gotten a call. He said that it would be by the end of the day and their day ends at 6. I get a call back from this company to tell me they can't do tomorrow but will be able to on Wednesday, I ask about the times and they told me no, I don't pick the times that's up to the movers and they are just a booking agency.
I called Ryan and there was no answer so I called again the next day and again there was no answer so I called the company again since I had a question about disassembling my desk and if it'll be a problem. They said it shouldn't be as long as it isn't special screws they can disassemble it as they carry basic tools. I wait for a call from the actual movers and receive one at 15:20 saying they will be here from 14:00-18:00 tomorrow I had no choice in what time they'll be here they told me this is when they'll be here. As soon as I hung up with them this company called me to say the same thing and I bring up that I didn't get to pick the time and again they tell me that I do not pick times that's up to the movers. I get a call on Wednesday at 11:47 to confirm they are on the way and a follow-up call at 14:33 they are less than an hour away. I called back at 15:41 to see their ETA, and he said they're 15 minutes away. They show up slightly after 16:00 and the guy is telling me the move is now $2000+ AFTER I said that I only packed 12/15 boxes so those can be removed, the TV isn't coming with me so that square footage can be removed and the ice chest isn't being taken so all of that can be used up but the price still went up by ~$800 I needed to move so I was forced to pay because I have no other option. The move was fast. The second guy that was with the mover disassembled my desk and bed within minutes. *** I will provide images of my entire review***
