Great job, promised a review. They were fast and efficient for my New York to Texas move. Thanks again
I strongly recommend you consider another moving company. They were four hours late for pick up, causing me to stay in a hotel and they charged me significantly more even though the contents matched the inventory. They delivered too early causing me to rent a storage unit. I then had to pay another company to move the contents. To make matters worse, they lost my kitchen table legs.
There are two issues regarding this moving company. One, is their obvious bait and switch policy. They provide a grossly under valued estimate based on a phone call. I told them the size of my home, family members and went through all of my items. They estimated the amount based on 1700 cubic feet. I ended up selling a bunch of items to reduce the amount to move as well after the estimate.
The week prior to moving, the company called and said they wanted a bigger deposit and thought that we would be closer to 2,000 cubic feet. I obliged and paid the required deposit. This brought the total cost from 12,000 to just over 14,000.
On moving day, the truck was completely loaded and I was told they had 2400 cubic feet loaded and would need an additional truck bc and that extra cubic footage now was up to 3400. This brought the cost of the move to $25,180. DOUBLE THE ESTIMATE. My family of 6, was flying to Florida the next day to close on our new home and didn’t feel we had a choice but to oblige the payment as I was told they wouldn’t deliver it.
The delivery truck came hours late. Started to unload at 8pm! We have 4 young children and had been waiting all day. The boxes had no labels (even though we paid for them to do the packing for us, ‘white glove service.’ so they started leaving them in one spot on the first floor. We demanded to have them let us open the boxes to attempt and figure out where they were to go so we wouldn’t be stuck moving our entire house ourselves. Items were thrown in boxes with no organization. An absolute disaster. One of the movers made a pass at my wife, so she wouldn’t go anywhere in the house without me. Even the local movers they contracted to unload were disgusted. I called the company to complain because they had to leave before the furniture was put back together. So they came the next day. I tipped the workers and via Zelle because they agreed and apparently knew each other. Supposedly the one I tipped stole all of the money and his phone was turned off the next day so the other mover kept calling about his tip money. After multiple calls he understood I wasn’t tipping twice and apologized for his misfortune.
The second issue, the company broke multiple items during the move. They took apart a $3,000 Ethan Allen table that doesn’t come apart by unscrewing it and ripping the wood that was glued and sealed. The table was destroyed. The adjustable base for our bed was broken and is no longer functional. This was a $1500 item from Raymond and Flanagan. My wife and a wedding dress that was preserved and sealed. This cost about $1,000. The box is wrapped and sealed at that point. Despite that, the movers duct taped the box and broke holes in the wrapping that essentially ruined any preservation.
I spoke with the company, which appears to be one guy named Rob. I was deferred to their email. I sent the claims in multiple times with video and photos with no response, until I mentioned the BBB. At this point they said they would look into it. This was at least two weeks ago and I’ve had no response. When you call, despite the number, the same guy answers the phone every time.
I’m not a huge reviewer online, but the experience was not only an obvious bait and switch regarding the estimate, but also the absolute worst business experience I’ve ever had. I’ve had cross country moves 3-4 times and never had an issue.
My advice is to use a real moving company, not one that masquerades as such.
READ BBB CLAIMS BEFORE HIRING THIS COMPANY!!!
This is an awful moving company that touts itself as a veteran owned business in order to sway those of us either formerly in the military, or whose family has been. Pick up crew did a good job packing my items and loading them on the original truck. That truck was then apparently emptied at a warehouse, and the items were then loaded on another truck for the final move down south. When the truck was unloaded at my new residence, multiple items were either broken or outright missing. When i called to make a claim for the damaged items, i was advised to submit a list and pictures. What they don’t tell you when you sign the contract is that they are only required to pay $0.60 (sixty cents) per pound of damaged item. So a 100lb Weber BBQ that cost $400 will only be reimbursed at $60, etc.
Almost a month after submitting my claim with their adjuster, i still hadn’t received a reimbursement check. I contacted the original service rep (Kristina) who advised me she would look into it. 2 weeks later and 2 additional emails, and she has not gotten back to me. So i called the company and spoke with Robert, who advised me the check would be mailed in a week. 2 weeks later i still have not received the check, so i called again and spoke with Robert, who told me again i would receive the check in another week. When i advised him this is exactly what he told me 2 weeks ago, he started cursing. When i told him i was going to file a claim with the Better Business Bureau, he threatened to not send the check.
DO YOUR RESEARCH. READ THE BBB CLAIMS.
Without a doubt the best possible result to my families first move. What started out as stressful turned into an enjoyable experience, the professionalism from customer service, planning, inventory found ways to save us money we didn't expect, but the care, timely fashion and concern from the movers themselves made it feel like family was helping us along the way. Constant communication, they let us know every detail of the journey of our belongings and took extra care and inspection as if it were their own. Finally right down to the last item on the truck they made sure we were satisfied with placement, assembly, before they left. I couldn't be happier and if I expected this kind of service we wouldn't have stressed for the last 14 months!! I highly recommend to anyone who will be relocating in the future ?
