Price quotes from the beginning was low which I found out later was a mistake on my part because the destination was as incorrect after that was corrected got another estimate but at the end of the move price was increased to over a thousand and more which I thought was outrageous for the furniture that was moved only sent two men to pack us up they were both slow and inexperienced I called about the broken items but no response to that looking for a moving company I would not use this company
This has been the most dissatisfying, and horrible moving experience I have ever encountered. We hired this company to move my Mom 2 weeks ago from 1 Alabama to Georgia. It started with the quote. My sister set everything up and received one quote, with a confirmed email; All info was sent to me, as I would be using my credit card; When I paid the 50 % deposit, I inquired as to the remaining balance. The balance quoted to me was significantly more than what should have been the remaining balance from the 50 % deposit. This brought the total to $1400.00 more than the email confirmation. When questioned, as to why the 'jump' in price. I was told that he would get back with me. When we spoke again, I was told, that it was a 'miscommunication', and that I should never have received that quote. I sent him an email of what was discussed with my sister, and that this quote should be honored; he still stated the email was inaccurate, and should not have been sent to my sister. (Although that was the agreed upon original price). After much discussion, The owner did remove $400.00; this now brought the price to being $1000.00 over the original quote vs $1400.00 over the original price. This was the day before our scheduled move, so I felt as though I had no other options or recourse but to move forward with the $1000.00 over the original quote. We agreed on a time of arrival for the next day. I was at my Mom's house on time. I received a call from the 'worker' who states they were 'running late', as the U-haul place had not yet opened for them to obtain a truck. They finally arrived 2 hours later than our original set time. I was then told that the 'contract' was now going to be an hourly rate (first time hearing this), if they were to 'go over'. I questioned that - What does that mean?. I showed him the latest estimate which showed updated price (witht he $1000.00 over) and a time of 7am - 10 pm. which was the hours of the move. However, they did not arrive until 10 am. There were only 2 young men there to move an entire home. I questioned the need for additional workers, but was told - 'no it was just the 2 of them'. It took them all day to 'tape up the boxes that we had already packed and remove clothing from closes to be place in wardrobe boxes. The first piece of furniture or box was not placed into the trunk until around 4 pm. They finally finished loading up the truck and we departed Alabama headed to Georgia around 7 pm. (I did buy them lunch as I needed them to keep working). They state they were going to get a hotel in Georgia and meet me at the apartment at 9 the next am. I made sure to let them know that we should not be charged for their hotel and sleeping etc., They assured me we would not. The next day, I was there at 9 as arranged. I received a call about an hour after 9, stating they were about 15 minutes out. I received another call, within that time frame, to state they were now 'stuck' and could not get the truck up the hill. They were going to have to call a 'tow truck'. They finally got 'unstuck' and showed up about 11:30 am. I also was sure to let them know not to charge us for the tow truck. They completed the job about 4 pm. Sunday. On Monday following the move, I received my credit card statement, and found that we were charged an additional $700.00 with no explanation or itemized details. I called the company, and got a voice mail - I asked for for a return call and an explanation or itemization of the additional charges. I am still waiting on that phone call. So we went from a quote of one price to an additional $1700.00 from our original price. BEWARE!!!
This company gets zero stars!! We used them to move my mom. We were quoted 2200 so we agreed and was told 50% was needed . Our credit card was charged 1600 so we called John to ask how was that 50% of 2200. Then , we were told the actual charge was 3200 as they charge by the hour, which was not discussed initially . We were pressed to get our mom moved so we went with it. Why would they give us a quote and then advise oh we do charge by the hour. We were tile the movers would be at my mom’s house at 9, but they did not arrive until after 10. Then , they sent 2 young inexperienced men. One who is in college at Auburn about 20. We are downsizing from a 4 bedroom 2 bath home to a senior apartment so we did not have that much furniture to move as we gave a lot away. They finally finished loading up the truck about 7 that evening. We did not receive my mom’s furniture until the next morning around 11. We were told they would meet us at 9 the following morning to unload, but they were over 2 hours late because the I experienced young driver got stuck driving the U-Haul, because they do not own their own truck and had to be towed. They finally finished unloading my mom about 4pm the following day. The broke 2 crystal glasses and 2 vases and did not hook the washer up correctly so it flooded my moms brand new apartment senior
home. John had not responded to the items that were damaged. This company uses unethical practices by sending inexperienced movers and not sufficient manpower do they can milk the hours, which is what they did. We felt sympathy for the young movers so we even paid for their lunch and gave them each some additional money in hand . We were initially quoted 2300, then 3200, but the final bill was 3900. We can see why this company is not a member of the Better Business Bureau. This is a company that should not be used. Not one thing went well width this move!! I would not recommend this company to anyone!!
Weston and John arrived on time and exceeded my expectations. They were friendly and courteous. The move to assisted living for Mom was made much easier because of We-Haul. Will definitely use again and highly recommend for anyone in the Alexander City/Dadeville/Lake area. Mike McGill
If you are looking for reliable service and would like to be treated with dignity and respect, contact We Haul for your move. Ethan and Jon went above and beyond to accommodate my needs and I will always appreciate that more than they can know.
