So far, I am very pleased with my experience with West Coast Self-Storage. The startup process was simple and easy. The staff was very polite and helpful, especially Chris. The facility is secure and clean, but parking can be a little cramped. I plan on keeping my unit long-term so I hope there aren't any price increases!
My friend, her boyfriend, and I were at your facility to store some of their things. We arrived in two cars, my friend’s and her boyfriend’s. Her boyfriend’s old Duster wouldn’t start, so we called AAA. While waiting for the tow, “security” came over the intercom and told us to leave the property.
The first guy, whom we nicknamed “Storm Trooper,” was extremely aggressive toward us and another person fixing their car. Despite repeatedly trying to explain that we were waiting for a tow, he insisted we leave without asking if we needed help or speaking to us directly. The second guy was more professional but still didn’t offer any assistance or listen to our situation.
They eventually called the police. When the police arrived, we explained that we were waiting for a tow truck. We weren’t being disruptive or loud. The police officer kindly directed us to move to the nearby bank to wait for the tow truck, informing the guys inside that we would need to return once the tow truck arrived.
We moved to the bank and waited. Unfortunately, the tow truck arrived around midnight. We just finished a whole day of moving and were exhausted. While we were loading the Duster onto the truck, with the tow truck’s lights flashing and security cameras clearly showing our activities, “Storm Trooper” again threatened to call the police over the intercom. The tow truck driver, frustrated, told him off, and finally, he grow a brain and left us alone.
I understand you have rules and policies, but we were dealing with car issues and had no intention of leaving the Duster for you to tow and charge us exorbitantly. Your security personnel need better training to handle such situations appropriately. Their aggressive behavior and lack of assistance were unacceptable.
I would have given you zero stars if I could, but unfortunately, I cannot. So one star, although your place feels more like a maze than anything else.
Neither my friend, her boyfriend, nor her boyfriend’s parents will use your company again due to this experience. I hope you take the necessary steps to ensure your staff are better trained and your customers feel safe in the future.
Rent with confidence! I rented here for years and it was always safe and clean. The few times I needed to engage with someone, they were professional and efficient. Today I cleaned out my unit and they had my prorated refund for the month processed before I even informed them I was out - it’s been years since I’ve experienced this level of customer care.
Booked online ahead of time, and it only took a few minutes in office to finish up the paperwork. The process was seamless and the guy (Brandon?) was awesome. He knows the stuff and was super prompt and attentive.
