So much is changing in College Station. I was there to look into public housing with Bryan because College Station does not provide public housing. The office has a strange rule regarding making copies if paper work in order to submit housing application. You must provide copies on your own. I decided not to submit my application to the housing office after I was made aware that they refused to help and they have a copy machine.
We were just moved by Higgs Moving Service and I highly recommend them for your next move. Not only were they very professional, they were friendly and courteous, they were fast and took very good care of my possessions and furniture.Nothing was damaged at all! The worst moving company I have ever experienced . Lazy movers very unprofessional . They damaged my furniture a lot of items and have taken items from draws and stolen . They are rude and move like snails . Owner is so unprofessional and rude also . Really she should not be in business . Anyone that hires these movers is as dumb as me . They are the worst of the worst .. move yourself a better job will be done then hiring them . Hiring firehouse moving is like throwing your money away . A joke of a moving company.

DO NOT USE! They will destroy your furniture and belongings, and overcharge for the move. They also left the water running after moving the washer and dryer, and refused to take ownership of the problem. Very poor service.
Where to begin? They arrived a day late and two hours late the next day (Sunday). They only worked 5 hours before quitting for the day, which pushed us into Monday still loading the truck while we had to go to the closing. They brought a trailer which was too small for our stuff, so, we had to rent another truck. Our stuff was placed temporarily in a storage container...When we brought it out of storage, we found that they had placed things in the most inconvenient way. For example; they had stacked box springs and a mattress on top of plastic totes, then placed more totes on top of the mattress. Then they placed furniture to hold the verticle mattress, etc. When we pulled the furniture away, the mattress and box spring (and everything on top of them) began to fall. They also stacked very heavy objects on top and up high in the storage unit which made it hazardous for us when we emptied the unit. I would not recomment these guys for any move.
My husband and I used The Moving Service for our move from the Dallas area to Asheville, NC in January 2017. Our move was a bit stressful as our moving date was changed suddenly from June 2017 to January so we had five months less to prepare for the move than we had originally anticipated. We had to find a moving company quickly and we were most impressed with the website for the local family owned The Moving Service. We gave them a call and talked with Kasey who could not have been more helpful. She arranged everything over the phone less than two weeks before the moving date. She gave me her cell phone so I could contact her with questions during the holidays and even returned my call on New Year's Eve! We had been in our home for 40 years and had accumulated a lot of stuff! Because of the short amount of time we had to prepare, we were less organized than we had hoped on the day Daniel and his crew arrived to pack the truck. The moving staff were professional, courteous, and cheerful. When we got bogged down with last minute packing, the guys chipped in and helped finish up the last of the boxes! Daniel was quite the philosopher and kept our spirits up with his stories and jokes. It was also reassuring to have the same crew unloading our stuff in Asheville. By then we knew them and their routine and we were comfortable with them. They put all our boxes in the rooms where they could be unpacked and put away which was a great convenience. The crew paid close attention to detail when moving our belongings but as careful as they were, the leg on one of the first of our large wingback chairs to be loaded broke as a crew member was moving it. He told us immediately and Daniel promised to have it fixed good as new by the time it was unloaded in Asheville. He was as good as his word - I cannot even tell which leg was broken. The only other boo-boo was an inexpensive hurricane lamp that I had neglected to pack as carefully as I should have. I think that is a remarkable record given that one of my passions is collecting vintage china and crystal and we moved it all with no broken pieces! The total cost of the move was under the estimate we had from the large nationally known moving companies. All in all, we could not have had a better experience and we recommend them with five stars!
DO NOT EVEN CALL KAREN GARVIN dba LONE STAR MOVING AND STORAGE OR IT COULD BE YOUR WORST AND COSTLY DECISION EVER!!! This rating should allow a -5. I was quoted $980 for my move 3 years ago, they called the night before to advise that it would require one extra truck and a driver and revised the cost to $1280.I had no option on the night before. They completed the move the next day and handed me an invoice for $1948. DECEPTIVE TRADE PRACTICE? We own very large, heavy and expensive high end quality furniture. Numerous items were scratched, dented or broken. Karen Garvin denied any knowledge of damages for months...most often not returning my calls. Our formal dining console had a broken mirror so her crew lead left it on the truck to have repaired and returned within 1-2 weeks. We got it 8 months later after calling that we would report it stolen by her. It was delivered in abused and unusable condition. Karen claims to have $5000 damage insurance but NOT ONCE did she offer to repair anything!!! DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR PITCH...YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!
