During our long lives,We've moved households more than a dozen times, locally, nationally, overseas. Always on our own dime, no gravy train for poor old us! University Moving and Storage IS AMONG THE RARE BEST. UM&S are HEROS across all the steps of a move: 1.) SALES MEETING AND QUOTE: Extremely pro, no blah-blah, with relevant interest in what we feel. Shared practical knowledge but also insights into how the industry operates today. Understood our particular needs and apprehensions. Presented alternatives and cost/benefit probabilities. Quote was spot-on with actuals. None of the other 6 companies that my wife and I interviewed came close to even competing with the value that UM&S communicated. AND THEY DELIVERED! 2.) PACKING: Packers are skilled craftspeople. We had a team of two men, the more experienced packer carefully guided the newer to develop his skills and checked his work. All boxes were labeled clearly with their contents, manifest sticker and entered onto the manifest. 3.) LOADING: The dispatcher confirmed, throughout the process, all information about the truck driver and his team. Driver picked up on time with the capability to get the shipment out safely and quickly; the shipment paperwork complete and well organized. 4.) UNLOADING: Driver arrived on time, well aware of the particularities of the arrival site. NO SURPRISES or unexpected costs. The unloading team were full of pep, energy and team spirit, carefully placing everything as we directed. After we had time to unpack, all was in perfect condition. This relocation was a big move, from Athens, GA to Oakland, CA. I had many special requirements, many complexities. Of course, situations like these are always a test of spirit, no matter how many times they unfold. There were moments during the process when I felt unsure. Whenever I called Mike Roman, who was coordinating everything, he always took my concerns seriously. He made sure that I was confident of success. Mover's academy seems like a great option for a reasonable price, however you get what you pay because the lack of communication is astronomical. The movers showed up over an hour late and never called me to give an ETA even though they said they would. When they got there, they worked hard and everything was fine. However, they then showed up about an hour late to my new location as well, yet only gave me a credit of less than half an hour. Fine, they were getting it done. What they don't tell you when you book with them and pay the deposit, is that they give an estimate of how long it will take to complete the job and you have to pay that full amount before they take anything off the truck, but they say you will get a refund if they finish early. They way overestimated time by 2 hours, or $300. It's been 2.5 weeks and I have yet to see my refund. I have called every day and only get the voicemail and never a call back. The manager Alonzo, said he remembers I should have gotten a refund and that he will check on it. That was 1.5 weeks ago and I have not heard from him since about the status of my account. I have left numerous voicemail messages and never got a call back. Every time I call, morning, afternoon, or evening the call always goes to voicemail that I don't think is even checked. The movers did a good job but the management is horrendous and does not act like a reliable business would. If they business model is to charge up front and then issues refunds, they should have a better system in place for refunds. It seems like the manager is the only one who can see anything about the refund and he keeps giving excuse after excuse for not looking into it after he says he will. If I do not hear from him soon I will take legal action. If I were you, I would stay away from this moving company!

We were very impressed with Eugene and Chris. The guys showed up on time and worked very efficiently to complete our move within 3 hours. This is our second experience with Ga Pack & Load and would highly recommend.

My movers were E & Gabriel. They came and did exactly what needed to be done without delay. They didn't try to move slower to get more money. They were kind and professional the whole time. I am not planning on moving for a long time; but I will definitely use MJC Movers.
