We contracted with this company in June of 2015 for a move from CT to FL. When they arrived they said our cost would be doubled on the spot because they did not bring a big enough truck. They also said they would not move any items if we did not agree to the price increase. I refused and cancelled the contract. The company proceeded to keep my $1130 deposit for not cancelling within 10 days of the move... REALLY??
This company is demoniac. They did a bait and switch with my quote once all of my items were loaded. They picked my belongs up on 9/30/19, and I only received a fraction of all of my belongings that they packed up and took away from my house, when my items were delivered. My move was from South Jersey to Michigan. I was quoted a little under $3000. for a small 2 bedroom apartment, but after they packed my belongings onto the truck the quote jumped to almost $5800. Seemingly I had to go to the bank to get the rest of the deposit, because I was told at the time of reservation that I’d paid a deposit that day, which I did; and that I was to pay my balance at time of delivery, and that was the furthest thing from the truth. Lord knows that I am so happy I didn’t have them transport my only vehicle, because they ended up holding my belongings hostage, and I had to negotiable with them for a month to get my things back. Hence, I am disabled and at that time had to sleep on an air mattress and floor, because of them baiting me with one price and then switching it. I was finally able to convince them to take an additional $2,000, opposed to the $3,250. they wanted; and mind you this was aside from the $2135. deposit, I’d already given them. Keep in mind my original rate was about $2850. Their driver Issac arrived to my new place in Michigan on 10/31/19, on Halloween day, and that’s when a nightmare unfolded, a nightmare is an understatement. He demanded the extra $2000. from me immediately; in order to start bringing my things in. He hired two men and truck to assist with bringing my belongings in. However at a point he demanded $200. more dollars to bring my table in, and when I told him I didn’t have any extra money, nor was that in my contract, refused to bring my marble dining room table up to my unit, and then threatened to leave with the rest of my stuff. I went upstairs into my unit, to grab my phone so that I could call the police, and while I was inside grabbing my phone, he drove off with the rest of my belongings, and the $2000. in cash. I called the moving company for help, and to no avail they never got back to me. Seemingly during covid, while on the phone with my sister, I looked out of my window that sat overtop of my garage, and saw a white van with windows, that said Dependable Movers on the side, it was sitting right in my driveway, and it had a New Jersey license plate in the back window! My heart skipped a beat, and I told my sister that a dependable movers van was out there, and that I saw my boxes. I was so excited! Me thinking they were going to get out of the van, and knock on my door, I went out to stand on the patio to let hi catch him before he got out of the van. By the time I got to the patio, the guy in the van was driving off. I called there headquarters again, in hopes that the guy would come back, but no one ever called me back or answered the phone again. Thus the trauma attached to my horrid experience began all over again. I am still very distraught and suffering through mental anguish behind this whole ordeal. As a lot of my personal effects, photo albums, my childhood memorabilia and collectible items, as well as memories of my late grandmother and family heirlooms were all stolen from me. The other stuff that was taken was replaceable, its the stuff that can never be replaced that hurts the worst, and is still taking a toll on me mentally.
