David and his crew came to do a move out cleaning for me. There was so much I still needed to pack/remove. They did it for me!!!! They were angels sent from the heavens. The apartment was cleaned and scrubbed beyond expectation. The oven and fridge looked new again. I am so grateful for them and HIGHLY recommend!!!

What can I say, my experience was so great that I am writing this a few weeks later and am posting this everywhere.

I live in NYC and had storage unit for over a decade with the yellow company and had an incident with a rude regional staff member, so I decided to move. I was able to find a size and a price a little more than an hour away. The family and I drove out to the Bayshore, NY location and I encountered Manny Ronquillo. He took me around the site and opened the units that we were interest in. He even opened the units that we weren’t looking at but my little kids wanted to see but he even did it with our permission so my kids could see them. He answered all of my and my wife’s questions. He even gave recommendations as to where we could get food and snacks when we drove out. He obviously, knows what having little kids is like and the hiccups of moving in with kids. How do you make a storage unit experience family friendly? Go talk to Manny in Bayshore. We reserved a unit with him and told him we would move in, in 2 weeks.

Two weeks later on the morning of move in he called to confirm that we were still coming. I told him that I had a problem with getting the truck but was going to be 2-3 hours later than expected, and he said no problem he would be here. When I was done packing at the yellow company and then driving I got a call from Manny saying that he had a family emergency and he had to leave but his co-work William would take care of me.

After a snowy 2 hour drive from NYC I arrived. As soon as I got out of the truck rental and turned around William was opening the front door and greeted me by name and apologized that Manny had to leave for a family emergency. He went over the paperwork that Manny and I had arranged and showed me how to access the unit. We were unloading for hours but when the office closed he came by to check on us and wave goodbye.

Later in the week, Manny called back to see how the move in went and to apologize for not being there. He had a family emergency and he is so polite that he apologized for having to take care of his family. Needless to say, I told one of my other friends about this great experience and he said he had a similar experience renting from a guy named Manfred that worked for Extra Space before he left NY to move to NC years ago. Guess what, Manfred is Manny. Great job Manny! I hope you and Will find out about this recommendation. Thank you for a great experience I will not be going back to the yellow company.

The crew seemed very hard working, the 'workers' (not the boss) worked hard. BUT the one in charge, the boss (the owner of the company, Ron Azar, he said he was the owner) didn't know how to tie down a load so the entire load came loose in the professional moving truck. Many items were broken in the move. I sent photos to the owner, of damage with estimates to replace the items, which was a lot more than than what they charged me. But I only asked for a refund of what I paid (a little over $200 cash), not the hundreds of dollars more for damages, not the extra cash tip.
.
The owner refused to pay ANYTHING, claiming that because I told him I thought he was working hard and doing a good job (while he was loading things in the truck) he said that meant I had no complaints and he did nothing wrong. Honestly, that was his excuse for not paying for any damages, for not giving me any type of refund, because I had complimentary and kind words for him and his crew as they were loading the boxes (moving them from my house to a moving truck).
.
I include a photo of the inside of the truck, exactly as it looked when we opened the door for the first time after the move. It was a professional driver, from a different company. You can see none of the tie straps or ropes held. Boxes fell and items shifted.
.
I loaded trucks and did tie downs professionally when I was young, so I know what should and should not be done. Unfortunately I couldn't do it for myself the day this crew loaded the truck for me, because I was disabled and could not even get around good enough to see most of what was done the day the truck was loaded. I trusted, I had no choice but to trust. I was kind, and I tipped the crew well, on top of paying the fee in cash. And I was rewarded for my kindness and trust with broken items.

I Used U-Pack to help someone move to South Carolina. I found them to be very professional and it’s very cost effective Vs a moving company.
