I personally don't know where the bad reviews are coming from, a bad place most likely. Get help. The workers at this location got me in a van and on with my day at the drop of a hat. With absolutely no notice I needed a moving van for a few hours work, they got me into a contract that gave me twice as much time as I needed and I paid less than estimated by me. My expectations more more than met. My experience with this location was top notch, keep up the great work. Thank you to the folks at U Haul I will not hesitate to employ their services in the future.
Aaron and his crew were fast, efficient and handled the move professionally and with care. The furniture was wrapped in moving blankets and even a fragile, glass curio cabinet was secured properly and arrived intact! Initial contact with Hartman Relocation Services was great. Bill came out in person to do an estimate and was very fair with the estimate. Received a contract stating that the final bill would NOT EXCEED a certain price. However, our closing day did not go as expected and due to a last-minute issue with the buyer of our home, our closing time was pushed out. It was extremely stressful as we did not even know if we were going to close at all after our items were already moved onto the truck. The woman in the office was VERY VERY rude and unsympathetic. She was very frustrated that the movers could not deliver to the new home first thing in the morning. The original contract had stated noon not 8 am. Anyway, due to the pushback of the closing time, the movers could not deliver until after 3 p.m. We did not have the option of storing our items another night due to the movers being booked up. In the end, we were charged over 1,000 dollars more than the original price. I understand that the movers had to work later due to the closing being moved however a double-time fee was never mentioned during the estimate or on the contract. The first I heard of it was when the woman who works at the office rudely stated that there would be double time after 6 p.m. However, I had no choice at that point since the movers were booked for the next day. Movers finished about 8 pm and my mother (who moved separately into the attached in-law) wanted to pay cash for the cash discount that Bill had mentioned in a confirmation e-mail. One of the movers had told my mother that there was no cash discount and it was not authorized to Bill to offer cash discounts any longer as this was a thing of the past. Then came the charge of over 1,000 dollars more than the contract stated. Again, no mention of double-time in the contract. Also, some of that cost was a mathematical error by Bill in the original contract. that I STILL had to end up paying even though the contract said NOT TO EXCEED. The mover taking care of the final bills was extremely frustrated as we had to juggle coming up with the extra cost. Again, I understand that the movers worked late but it was by 2 hours, and over a grand seemed a little excessive for 2 hours. I did contact Bill who told me there was a calculation error and gave a partial refund of a little over $400. Bill mentioned that they sent an extra mover to assist since it was a late start time. This all would have been fine if there was communication of all of this and we weren't blindsided by the additional cost. Plus the calculation error on the contact should not have affected me! I just don't understand a contract to not exceed and then have it exceed. There should be more specific wording in the contract in case someone else has our issue and closing is pushed back. We also tipped each mover generously separately. The closing being pushed back was out of our control completely and if I had the choice I would have stored the items an additional night as it would have been much cheaper than to pay for additional crew and overtime. Also issues with damaged items due to carelessness in stacking clearly labeled fragile boxes and improper reassembly of my bed. The majority of the movers did work efficiently and were great. I just wish there was better communication about additional fees instead of putting a not to exceed price and being blind sighted at the end.
